My name is Sheila Kiely and I am a Cork based Irish Food Blogger. I work in our Food Safety Consultancy business (Industrial Management Systems) and I am a mother of 6 children aged 17, 15, 14 & 14, 12 & 12. In my spare time I like to write.
As there are 8 mouths to feed everyday I try to be practical in my approach to cooking. While I love to cook I usually don’t have a lot of time to prepare weekday meals. The kids are sporty and with the ferrying around that involves, little time is left to loll around the kitchen.
I take recipe books and magazines to bed with me and am an avid viewer of cooking programmes. I’m constantly scribbling down recipes and have a vast collection gathered on various scraps of paper.
I experiment occasionally with exotic and expensive ingredients but for day to day cooking everything has to be readily sourced and not off the richter scale in terms of pricing so I usually shop in my local supermarket.
My first recipe book which is a collection of my favourite tried and tested everyday recipes was published in March 2012 with Mercier Press. I am not a trained chef, I am a regular busy working mother doing a constant juggling act.
These recipes are for everybody, if I can do it, you can too.
