You may be thinking about doing a bit of home-baking and making it look a little bit special for Mother’s Day and I have a useful link or two to pass on to you.
The first link comes from goodlife{eats} http://tinyurl.com/6yypf2a and demonstrates how to make the two-tone icing as I have done in the pictures here.
I came across this link via Caroline & Kristen, the team behind Irish Food Blogger’s Association in a ‘What we’re reading’ section rounding up links to what’s new in the food world and be sure to check that out at http://www.irishfoodbloggers.com/
Any aspiring food stylists or bloggers looking for a chance to improve their food styling skills could win yourself a place on a Food Styling Workshop in Germany courtesy of Plate 2 Plate & Bordbia. Details of this amazing competition – open to all Irish resident food bloggers – are available at http://tinyurl.com/4qrcylh but you need to hurry as closing date is 31st March 2011.
If you do plan on trying out the two-tone frosting, a word to the wise, this is not as easy as it looks. I mucked up two cupcakes and readjusted technique until I got it right. There is however the joy of sucking the left over butter cream frosting out of the nozzle. Sugar high.
Til next time, Sheila
These look great, Shelia! So glad you found that little tip useful – we publish those round-ups daily but are never quite sure if anyone is reading them! 🙂
